Lesley Zavediuk and the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS) developed Write the Grant! as a 2026 pilot project to help library staff build their grant-writing skills. Each cohort includes staff from IHLS member public libraries serving populations under 10,000. During the six-week virtual workshop, participants work on drafting grant proposals, exchange peer feedback, and learn practical strategies to simplify the grant-writing process and effectively tell their library’s story.

Lesley Zavediuk has spent over a decade working in library services, technology implementation, and library staff training. She fell into grant writing in 2022 and is passionate about teaching others just how easy it can be to find funding. She holds an M.A. in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
